2013 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta *UPDATED* (Beta 2.0.16537.0)

Yesterday, Microsoft began rolling out the first new SystemUpdate to registered users in its 2013 Xbox LIVE Public Beta program. This first update brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel version to 2.0.16517.0.

c4evaSpeaks.com is happy to confirm that after updating to this latest version, LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, and LTU v1.2 continue to work fine with backups both offline and on Xbox LIVE. Xk3y also continues to function without issue on LIVE and offline.

According to a post by Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson (Larry Hryb), it will "include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year". Another notable change is the removal of Windows Live Messenger chat capabilities.

*UPDATE* [2013-07-16 06:25PM UTC]
A second update has been pushed out to all users in the Public Beta program. This update brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel up to version 2.0.16525.0. All current firmwares (LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, and LTU v1.0) continue to work fine with backups both on Xbox LIVE and offline. Xk3y is also functioning normally on and offline. The primary change in this version is a slight decrease in the size of dashboard tiles.

*UPDATE* [2013-07-22 10:57PM UTC]
A third update has been rolled-out to all those in the Public Beta program. This update brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel up to version 2.0.16529.0. c4eva's LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, and LTU v1.0 all continue to work fine with backups on Xbox LIVE and offline, and the same goes for Xk3y.

*UPDATE* [2013-07-26 10:19PM UTC]
Microsoft has deployed a fourth SystemUpdate in the Public Beta. This one brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel up to version 2.0.16531.0. All current c4eva firmwares and Xk3y continue to work fine on Xbox LIVE and offline after this update.

*UPDATE* [2013-08-02 11:39PM UTC]
A fifth SystemUpdate has been released to participants in the Beta. This latest one brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel to version 2.0.16535.0. Backups are working fine (LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, LTU v1.0, LTU v2.0) both offline and on Xbox LIVE, and the same story for Xk3y as well. One of the primary changes in this version is the inclusion of a new auto-download option for app and game updates (apparently this change came in an earlier update, thanks to Anonymous for pointing that out).

*UPDATE* [2013-08-09 11:37PM UTC]
A sixth update has been deployed in the 2013 Xbox LIVE Public Beta program. This latest update is a single-digit increment and brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel up to version 2.0.16536.0. As has been the case with the previous updates in the program, backups run with LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, LTU v1.0 and LTU v2.0 are all still working fine on Xbox LIVE and offline. Xk3y as well also continues to work normally on and offline.

*UPDATE* [2013-08-16 11:49PM UTC]
On Friday, Microsoft pushed out a seventh update to all enrollees in the Beta program. This latest update brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel to version 2.0.16537.0. Our apologies on the delay in confirmation tests on this one — vacation time took priority. We're pleased to confirm that backups continue to run fine offline and on Xbox LIVE with c4eva's LT v2.01, LT+ v2.0 & v3.0, LTU v1.0 and LTU v2.0. As well, Xk3y is functioning normally with backups on and offline.

Any info yet on a new anti piracy? I am part of the beta and use a xkey and I am worried that my console might be flagged.

Why did you signup for the beta if you are worried about getting flagged? That's just plain stupid :/

On topic: I've signed up for the beta on one of my older consoles that i do not care about, its running LT+3.0 and everything seems to be working just like before the update.

I did not sign up for the beta intentionally. When I first read it I assumed it was an advertisement for Microsoft's Beta Program to beta test games and did not realize what it was till after I accepted the TOS and began downloading the app for it. My question still lies un answered along with your unneeded 2-sense.

What's going on with C4EVA? I'm getting worried about the guy, no word for a while now and this site just confirms backups are still functioning, in the past C4EVA would have at least commented or the site would have said to use at your own risk until he has confirmed.

Nice to hear from you Admin… thought you'd disappeared into the night along with C4eva et al. ;-)

Good to know that backups still work with this beta, but then again it is just a beta and if it does have any new form of anti-piracy, all I can say is they won't 'switch it on' during the beta stage.

Therefore it is 'possible' they may flag your console server side and then with a future 'public' release, around say the time of the Xbox 1 release, instigate a new ban wave! …

But I doubt there will be any more ban waves, if indeed any more bans that 'detect' anti anti-pircacy.

Any future bans will be done to 'user' error… Not using the most up-to-date methods and trying to use truncated XGD3 discs.

I worry the same. The whole scene has been really quite lately. Make me wonder if MS has something up their shelves for when the Xbox One comes out.

MS will probably do a massive ban wave, when X1 comes out so you'll have to buy the new Xbox, something like that.

I doubt this and even if they did who will honestly purchase their next gen? As of right now a partition is being done to have their crappy original DRM placed back onto the console and so goodbye to used games and good bye to borrowing games from a friend because the DRM includes all the original gay restrictions stated at E3. At this point the PS4 is the better next gen console for gamers, especially if the DRM is put back into effect due to the partition going on. The xbox one is nothing more but a entertainment console for family members.

That whole DRM is also being implanted in like 70% of games on all consoles -_- developers think it is better than an online pass and a lot of games will update when you are offline and not playing them. Single player and Multiplayer games on both consoles ps4 & x1 will have it through the games and not just the console.

PS4 will not have the same DRM? Sony even stated during E3 that the most they will do is online passes which as always will be up to the Game Devs themselves. Microsofts DRM is way over board and has a lot more restrictions then just a simple Online Pass. Now unlike the 360 we will be required to be online once every 24 hours for them to confirm we own the keys to our games which is ridiculous thank god Sony is at least normal and none money hungry

Shortly after their E3 Press Conference, due to the public uproar, Microsoft rescinded some of the planned restrictions for Xbox One, including the 24-hour requirement. The post from Don Mattrick is available here.

This is a BETA dashboard at the moment, so unless you got in on the beta test program, then you CAN'T upgrade the dashboard!

Results from beta users who HAVE flashed drives did report that the drive stayed flashed and haven't seen any problems….. so far!

So… NO! You do not need to re-flash your console and YES! Your console will stay flashed if you upgrade to this BETA dashboard.

Lastly, doubtful this dashboard revision will be the PUBLIC release , when it is released.

just a point to pirates retarded comment, sony where the first to patent the DRM that microsoft used at E3, but removed it when they saw the backlash it caused, sony also created cinavia protection on movies, also removed other os from the ps3 and told us the public that we dont own the ps3 that we purchased, we just own the right to use it, they will put that DRM back at some point, as for the xbox one i have preordered mine and would of even with the DRM activated, Im not bothered about second hand games or my friends or family lending my expensive games and me having to ask for them back over and over again(eventually returned damaged), second hand games are a rip off, im sick of buying a s**te game for 40/50 pound completeing it in 5/6 hours and getting less than half price back, these game shops are making a fortune from us, microsoft have now removed the game sharing and discless game play from the xbox one, where you could of played any friend or familys game on your own console as the same time as them, a far better way of sharing games. i would prefer that and all i would of had to do was be on xbox live one every 24 hours.

And This is your own opinion when just about over half the community disagrees with this in a poll on the Xbox.com/forums so I wonder who the real retard is here. You complain about gamestop being a rip off? Then sell your games on Ebay as Gamestop has to make profit at some point plus I doubt the Xbox One Marketplace will be any better. Also not everyone has a good internet and can download a 8.5 GB game within 2 hours and so how fair is it to make everyone download a Digital Copy and be stuck signing in every 24 hours when some don't even have internet? As stated Microsoft has focused more towards Entertainment then gaming when Sony is more towards the gaming industry, last I checked the only restrictions Sony will be using on the PS4 are Online Passes which is up to the Game Developers themselves and you will be asked to purchase PSN Premium which is the same as XBL but most likely cheaper.

Sony may of been the first but they sure as hell did not go through with it, so why bring it up is beyond me xBox Done Fat Boy
