Well if is the correct IHAS324-98B Than I Found it at my local retailer. I also found IHAS324-98Y at a different retailer, and I heard Y definitely shouldn't work.

And I dont know if this question has been answered. But what if our dl burners we own now work just as well, I had no problems truncating the xgd3 games or the completing the write at 97% all my games work fine, is this just to be 100% safe or to fix games like forza?

And even with these burners bought, do we still definitely need to buy the verbatim 8.7gb disk or can we still burn them on the 8.5gb disks????. Because if thats the case there is nowhere to buy the disks, I found the one link someone posted but stated not available.

1st its safer to have them burn 100%
2nd there is no such DL thats 8.7gb thats why he is writing special firmware for the drives.
3rd Verbatim disc are recommended because c4eva said its the only ones that dont come back with errors when verifying

You can putchase the regular verbatims the 8.7gb is due to the burning process it undergoes which the Cfw for these drives will facilitate! C4eva mention mxm001 abd 003 verbs I think 001 can be burned @ 2.4x only and 003 can be burned @ 2.4, 4x. I could be wrong on the model number for the verbs tho

This customized PC DVD burner fw allows for burning 100% of an XGD3 ISO to regular DVD+R DL discs.

      regular DVD+R DL discs= 8.5GB DVD+R DL discs

[2011-10-15 03:51AM UTC] #c4e different civ than forza, but full disc burn is obviously safer

[2011-10-16 10:00AM UTC] #c4e burner max fw doesnt force you to use verbatim media for xgd3 but they are the only ones that verify error free so far

@C4eva First.. THANK YOU! second.. you are incorrect when you say the "A" version is NEC, in actuality it is A=Mediatek, Y=NEC
    my drive Model: iHAS124-04 Y
    Chipset: NEC China MC-10045
    Manufactured: OCT '09 (in China)

@metrx there are no 8.7gb discs you just burn 8.7gb of data to the 8.5gb verbs (imo Singapore>india)

I mean dont get me wrong I appreciate C4's efforts in everything he does, but what the point of the custom burning firmware and specific drives if there are no 8.7gb disks available online or local retailer that sells them. Did someone buy all the 25 disk spindles from that first react website and are going to resell them for three times the retail price.

I don't understand why C4eva released LT 2.0 and at first said XGD3 rips burnt and 97% or truncated with 8.5gb disks were fine and now all of a sudden their not good enough? I think he shouldn't of released 2.0 if we're not ready for it, I'd rather of waited for everything to be complete then. Instead there is all this confusion and commotion.
I know people are going to get mad about what I'm stating but im sure im not the only one thinking this.

Again C4 your the man no doubt, just confused about all this and hope to play online safe again. Thanks

      Nothing wrong with LT2.0..

Just forza 4 had some cv checks in the parts that were truncated… now c4e is doing this to avoid trouble when other new games come out which have similar checks..

      JUST IN CASE ;)

Burning to 97% is not consider XBL safe, hence the new burner fw and drives which allow 100% burning. There is no such thing as an 8.7GB Verbatim, the new fw, coupled with the specific burners will allow 100% burning to an 8.5GB Verbatim. That is the point of all of this.
