[2012-04-21 06:08AM UTC] #fw <boa> looks interesting
[2012-04-21 06:08AM UTC] #fw <boa> tx makes qualty products
[2012-04-21 06:08AM UTC] #fw <boa> and it avoids sata issues
[2012-04-21 06:10AM UTC] #fw <boa> c4eva: any progress on the newer liteon / hiteach drives?
[2012-04-21 06:11AM UTC] #fw <c4eva> boa:yes, working on 1175, getting there!
[2012-04-21 06:11AM UTC] #fw <boa> nice
[2012-04-21 06:14AM UTC] #fw <Xellcorp> Cool
[2012-04-21 06:14AM UTC] #fw <Xellcorp> Any news for slim hitachi people?
[2012-04-21 06:16AM UTC] #fw <c4eva> xell:not yet, 1175 has focus
[2012-04-21 06:19AM UTC] #fw <Xellcorp> Will there be a new hardware method for flash/erase of 1175 ?

[2012-04-21 06:19AM UTC] #fw <Xellcorp> Has a method been discovered as yet?

[2012-04-21 06:20AM UTC] #fw <Juvenal> im fairly sure thats *not* why they have new drive revisions
[2012-04-21 06:21AM UTC] #fw <boa> lol
[2012-04-21 06:22AM UTC] #fw <c4eva> fixes are incorporated in newer versions, both hardware and software
[2012-04-21 06:23AM UTC] #fw <Xellcorp> Whenever a new hardware revision is developed for whatever reason either better performance or cheaper production costs security is always added at the hardware and software levels
[2012-04-21 06:24AM UTC] #fw <Juvenal> Xellcorp, my point was that ms doesnt come out with new drive revisions in direct response to cfw
[2012-04-21 06:25AM UTC] #fw <Juvenal> its not like "oh shit, c4 came up with a new unlock method, time to make a new drive"
[2012-04-21 06:25AM UTC] #fw <boa> lol
[2012-04-21 06:25AM UTC] #fw <boa> maybe they can come out with lasers that done suck

I wonder why c4eva doesn't release the key dump method. I get why he's taking his time with the cfw: can't rush perfection. But there are plenty of people with xkeys and wasabi360s who'd like to know the dump method… I wonder if it's to keep it a secret from M$ so they can't change anything while he works on the cfw or something like that. Really, I can't see why he'd want to play that card so close to his heart otherwise.

The very last people he cares about pleasing are the ODDE teams, and for good reason too. Each of them have certain features directly owing to c4eva's hard work and ingenuity, yet not a single one bothered to extend him thanks or proper credit. Instead, they were masqueraded as their own brilliant solutions. Also, there's zero benefit to releasing details about the method until the necessary hardware is finalized and the fw itself is finished. People think they need to know every little detail of what's going on at every step, and that's just not the way it works. If there's a point in publicizing certain information, then it gets announced — if not, then it's kept internal. All the announcements are made with purpose and strategic timing.

Well, yeah. That IS pretty s**tty of them. It's a shame, too. Everyone with an ODDE gets the middle finger from c4eva because of the manufacturers of these things. I understand his reasoning, though. It's not HIS fault we're being forced to wait for something we don't really need; it's guys like xkey and wasabi who are to blame for being greedy jerks. :(

I disagree. If they have a golden way to get this done, then we'll have to wait. If we want to be on the side of the leacher/crybaby/leaker groups, then we'll have to wait till c4eva releases his own product, and _then_ the competators that leech off his work will have their chance with the product.

If you really wanna figure out your key for some ODDE, go RGH your machine.

it's not a secret. it's just not practical. it involves decapping the chip to access the inner wiring, sort of like with the kamikaze hack.

        • avatar Stridz0r says:

The ODDE teams should do their work and release "the method" themselves. It is their responsability and they owe it to their customers, or are they waiting for C4E to do that for them too? You know how it goes.

Of course they are waiting for him! They take a device that emulates a disc drive and inject firmware onto it. They already have a method to flash drive firmware to the ODDE, they just don't have a key or firmware for the 1175 drive. They will sit patiently and wait for someone to do the work for them and then pass it on to the customers. Why do you think C4 waits until he has the extraction method AND firmware written before he releases it? If he went ahead and threw the extraction method out there, all his hard work would be taken advantage of without so much as a high five! Then all his loyal and donating fans would jump ship and leave him feeling like a dirty whore. Long live C4eva! Thanks again for all your hard work!

Now THIS is a piece of valuable information: [necessary hardware]. We'll be waiting eagerly for more info on this. Keep up the good work, ALL OF YOU. Thank you so very much.

well of course. we either need some sort of unlocking device, or a replacement pcb… like i said in the forums, TX is working on Corona RGH right now, DG-16D5S is not their top priority.

Technically TX is done with Corona (Coolrunner 3 is already in mass production and should be launched next week) and they should be now moving to their next big thing.

Hopefully it will be an inexpensive qsb-type unlocking device thingy, as opposed to an expensive replacement PCB. Either way we'll gratefully receive ANY solution the team can provide.

At least now we know the unlock method is more complicated (as far as I've read) than kamikaze (and I was hoping it would be as easy as sputnik). I'm sure the solution will be worth the wait.

Heard from my friend that he saw a post somewhere here saying the RGH is the only way the 1175 will be modded. That C4EVA said it basically can't be done any other way. Say it ain't so! please! Can I get some confirmation? Did anyone else see this post from Admin or C4Eva saying the 1175 is a softmod write off? I'm not asking for an ETA, just whether I should hold out for hope or not.

Congratulations for the work done always, thanks for the clarification of the admin. With all that has been described is correct to say that soon we can then replace the PCB of the drive for the team Xecuter PCB or similar?
