    It was once said that if you have a slim you can just update without reverting to stock. Wondering if this is still true? Not that it's a hassle for me to update as I have the Matrix Freedom Replacement PCB with the quick update PCB attached. Just wondering.

        The problem isn't whether or not it will go through and which firmware version you have. The question still remains whether or not M$ reads the firmware form your drive during an online update. If they were uploading the firmware to their servers and checking to see if it's custom firmware, they could ban you on that premise. USB is the ONLY way to go if you choose not to flash back to stock. If you choose to do it on live, you are taking a risk doing so.
