c4eva Speaks! Mega Puzzle Mashup Contest -- Win a Lite-On iHAS524B! (May 30, 2012 - June 27, 2012)It's contest time again! Up for grabs is a brand new Lite-On iHAS524B that's fully compatible with c4eva's iXtreme Burner MAX firmware!

We came up with our own twist once again — this time mashing together several different puzzle styles for a unique challenge. 14 secret words are being revealed over 21 days through a logo hunt, with each one fitting into a crossword puzzle. 14 special letters from the completed crossword then form the final mystery phrase!

You live busy lives, and we understand that, so we chose 36-hour intervals for the secret word reveals instead of 24, to give everyone a reasonable chance at catching the words. On average, it should only take approximately 5 minutes of your time to find each secret word and submit it.

The first secret word will be revealed May 30, 2012 02:00AM UTC.

Good luck!

Instructions

The contest begins May 30, 2012 02:00AM UTC and ends June 27, 2012 02:00AM UTC.

Every 36 hours, a new secret word will be revealed somewhere in the posts on the first 20 pages, starting from the front page. The secret word will appear only in the actual post content, not in the comments, so you do not need to go through pages of comments searching. You can search for the secret word one page at a time, by going through the first 20 pages using the page toolbar at the bottom:

Pagination

or optionally one post at a time by using the previous/next buttons at the bottom of each post:

Previous/Next Post Navigation

After 36 hours, the secret word will disappear and the next secret word will be revealed on another page. We suggest that you be logged into your account when searching for the words, as users who are not signed-in may see cached pages.

Secret words are marked with the stylized "c" from our logo to the right of it, such as:

[2011-03-04 09:21PM UTC] <c4eva> The Emperor has made a critical error and the time for our attack c4evaSpeaks! has come! :)

In this example, the secret word is "attack" because the "c" appears to the right of it.

You must find the secret words within the 36-hour time period that each is visible.

In the same 36-hour period, you must also submit a comment, containing only the secret word, on this contest post. Do not submit the comment on the post where you find the secret word.

The comments with your answers are treated specially, and are only visible to yourself and to the Admins of c4eva Speaks. Other users will not be able to see your answers.

If you've printed out the Crossword & Mystery Phrase PDF document, you can fill in each secret word as you find them.

Any participants that do not post a comment with the secret word every 36 hours will be disqualified.

On June 18, 2012 02:00PM (14:00) UTC, the 14th and final secret secret word will be revealed for 36 hours, allowing you to finish the crossword and complete the mystery phrase.

At this point, you must submit a comment with the final secret word, and another comment with the mystery phrase.

The final secret word must be submitted in the 36-hour period that it's visible. The mystery phrase can be submitted at the same time, or anytime thereafter up until June 27, 2012 02:00AM (02:00) UTC when the contest closes.

Anyone else think this was worth their time? I mean the drive is only 20 bucks. The amount of time spent discovering and solving this puzzle could not seem worth the reward. Now a free ck3i probe or x360pro drive would have definitely be worth it.

Seriously? LOL. Complaining about a free prize — how stupid can you be? It was intended to be a small contest, and that's exactly what it was. I'm certain the winner would tell you it was worth it. It only took a few minutes every 36 hours to find each word. So, unless you're a high-priced lawyer, you needn't be overly concerned. No one was forcing you to participate. This sounds to me like sour grapes. It's only natural to be upset when you don't win, but to complain about the cost of it is just plain lame. My suggestion to you is to not participate in any of our future contests, and instead find some elsewhere that better fit your ideal time-value ratio. That way, you won't have to spend another 2 minutes of your seemingly incredibly valuable time to post a completely useless complaint about it — and the bonus to us is one less whining idiot here. Win-win.

Sadly it seems lately there has been a massive influx of whining individuals and those who cant read that constantly post I need 1175. I mean it says in progress and I obviously am not good enough to figure out how to dump a virgin drive on my own but, I can type on my keyboard. That expertise leads me to believe if I complain more and more it will come faster since c4eva is obviously not working hard enough on something he is not getting paid for and clearly he can't have a life of his own. Or my newest favorite is a title headline saying the current dash update is safe and the comments are still littered with people asking if its safe to install this dash update.

There are a lot of ungrateful and selfish people on here. Not all mind you there are a lot of helpful individuals as well but, when its slow like this without a lot going on at once seems like only the jerk asses come out and play.

Well said, Ucla, and too true. I try my best to stay polite, but it wears on my nerves after a while. You wouldn't believe the amount of 1175 comments I delete on a daily basis, plus all the ones that people submit through the contact form, and questions asking whether [insert random DVD drive brand/model here] will work with Burner MAX fw. I love how they completely ignore the big, bold, red and underlined warnings on both forms asking them to refrain from those questions. It comes with the territory though I suppose.

I can see your point, admin. I've done administrative/moderation work on a few message boards before. Having to deal with nagging people whining about every little thing IS irritating, especially when you're dealing with people who are getting something for free. It's repulsive.

There ARE tons of people who come here begging for an update and throwing miniature temper tantrums when they're not getting their way. Those people are idiots. To Hell with them.

That being said, there's a difference between bitching/whining and having a valid curiosity. 1175 has been "IN PROGRESS" for over half a year if I'm not mistaken. People wanting to know what's taking so long or at least wanting a more detailed update than "working on it" really isn't unreasonable. If there were a LITTLE more information, it'd probably go a long way with all the impatient people AND those who'd just like to know what's going on.

Disclosing confidential information about the process isn't acceptable for obvious reasons, but even a ROUGH estimate from c4eva along the lines of "Maybe a few more weeks, guys" or "We're about 75% of the way through" would go a long way to calm people down. There are people who make a living off of modifying other peoples' game consoles. They have a bunch of 360s sitting around with 1175 or 0800 or 78/79 and are having to tell their customers that until these drives are cracked, there's nothing they can do. They can't give their customers any kind of time estimate and can only offer to ship the 360s back and apologize for the inconvenience.

Having a better time estimate won't FIX anyone's problems nor make the cfw come out any sooner, but it WOULD placate a lot of people. Is there any way you can make this happen, admin?

          • avatar Ibanezzer says:

Damn right! And if the firmware isn't coming fast enough, I saw about 40 Phat consoles on Craigslist all within a 25 mile radius of my house and Ebay is full of 'em. Sell the Slim and getcha a Phat 360 and be done with it. I am just grateful C4 and his team are still going after all this time.

  2. avatar gledimrock says:

So, only 1175 will be realeased right? Reply only this question pls.
If not, i will sell my xbox, and buy older one.
    Sorry for english
    Best regards.

As the series B on the lite stopped being made, I wonder if other drives are already being manufactured which can receive the ixtreme max burner?

Please see this link for more info. In addition to the regular iHAS B models, there are several cross-flashable models listed in the status table on the front page. Click the link at the bottom of the "Lite-On PC DVD Burner" section to expand the list.
