The process is pretty simple – if you’ve got a SATA drive (burner or HDD) you’ll need a SATA connection and a power source. You can get a two-in-one (external enclosure) if you’d like; seems to be a simple solution some folks prefer. Just keep in mind that not all SATA connection methods are created equal!

My method is to use the X360USB PRO as my SATA –> USB connection and a molex PSU w/a molex –> SATA power cable (PSU retails for $10 or less and the molex –> SATA is usually $0.99 or so). Everything works without a hitch and, more importantly, every backup I’ve burned so far has easily exceeded the criteria for a solid burn.
