Okay, this is going to come off pretty dickish, and quite frankly after reading through the posts here I don’t give a damn at this point. To put it blunt (no pun intended), I feel a helluva lot worse for the people who have a Hitachi 78/79 drive that performs AP25 checks than I do for yet another stupid LiteOn drive which has clearly taken precedence.

You people could have easily purchased a used system that didn’t have your awful 1175 drive in it. Hitachi is being neglected yet again in favor of this brand new LiteOn (real shocker, [/end_sarcasm]) drive that is obviously taking a LOT longer than probably first anticipated just to decrypt and code for. This trend has been typical and I’m tired of hearing that c4e doesn’t do the CFW in any particular order because that’s been utter BS ever since Lt+ 1.1.

If I were a bettin’ man, I’d put money on the 1175 AND the slim LiteOn ripping firmware releasing before Hitachi 3.0 even gets legitimately looked at. I half-jokingly said in a Hitachi forum a while back that Hitachi 3.0 will probably release somewhere in May/June/July or something absurd. Low-and-behold, it doesn’t seem as if that projection will be too far off but I hope I’m wrong for their sake.

Thankfully it seems as though a surprisingly large number of 78/79 owners’ drives don’t even perform AP25 checks (like my 79FL 4b00) and probably don’t even come to this site anymore aside from checking for info regarding system updates (which has been seriously lacking lately) but I still feel terrible for the poor souls who have a 78/79 that DOES perform the AP25 checks and are stuck waiting for 3.0.
