Unfortunately i have made the mistake of updating a friends 360 to the latest dash, 14699 via usb. Truncated XGD3 backups no longer work (i tried 3 different games) so i have some questions if anyone can help.

Will any games work at all now?

If XGD3 games are burnt using an iHAS drive with Burner Max firmware, will they work? (bearing in mind this is a Hitachi 46 drive)

What exactly is causing the XGD3 games to no longer work, as i would like to understand it.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

if you have hitachi drive 46 with LT 2.0 then all non-truncated backups should boot. for xgd3 games you will need an ihas with burner max firmware.

Thanks QuickMythril

The drive was returned to stock, then dashboard was updated to 14699 then drive was flashed with LT Plus 2.0

Will XGD3 games need topology data or can they be burnt like normal?

Quote from the home page “Hitachi 32-59 currently do not need v3.0 as they aren’t AP2.5-capable drives. LT+ v3.0 is only needed for drives which support AP2.5 (Hitachi 78/79, BenQ, Lite-On). ISOs made for v3.0 that include topology data will work fine on Samsung and old Hitachis. In v3.0, the ISO layout hasn’t changed, except that there will instead be new topology data in place of where the old AP2.5 replay sector used to be, which Samsung & old Hitachis ignore anyway.”

burning with the topology is the “normal” way now, but if you have discs that still have old or blank ap2.5 sectors instead they will work also.

Do you need to download topology patches for every XGD3 game you burn then?

No as Hitachi will ignore that sector

running the iso through the current abgx360 will add in topology data where needed. no need to download individual patches.
