I use Legacy mode (i think?) as i connect my Xbox directly to the PC’s motherboard. I have a Hitachi v79 drive and a couple of days ago i managed to update the FW from 1.9 to 2.0. The machine boots and shows the latest dashboard but i have no XBG3 games so i really can’t verify if the system works or not.

Anyway, today i wanted update to the new 2.0b FW and follow all steps as previously. When i come to the point where i need to unlock the drive to be able to dump the FW the system locks up and looses the drive assignment which i got through the Win API. I’ve never had this problem before but now i can’t do anything to unlock the drive… i’ve been at it for 3 hours now.

The port to the drive is okay and can be seen on the left hand side, i go into Mode B and the assignment is set where i can see the drive on the right hand side. I pop in the audio cd and press 79 unlock and the system freezes like explained above…. what’s wrong here, i can’t figure out what to do? >.<

Also, the program freezes every time i do anything which is really annoying.

For some reason, totally unknown to me, i managed to finally run the unlock and access the drive. I didn’t do anything different so it basically just worked after about 3 hours of trying. I later burned “Need For Speed: The Run” on an iHAS 124B with no errors and the game starts and thus seems to work.

I used a fresh install of Imgburn, no special settings (overburn, hypertune and so on) and burned at 2,4x on a Verbatim MKM-003.

I had the same problem, after restoring to stock firmware, when trying to reflash to lt2.0b the unlock 79 CD managed to hang the PC after ejection, several attempts later finally worked, and sucessfully got flashed to LT2.0b. Tested with NFS The Run and GOW 3.

I have the exact same problem, just have not had the lucky chance of unlocking the drive yet, so it is recognized by windows. Any suggestions?
