Isn’t TOSHIBA MK3265GSX a hard drive? About the Hitachi you can try using the truncate option with it but not all games will work with truncate. As far as higher risk to getting banned, we don’t really know the answer to that, but I would think truncate is higher risk.

Truncate is definitely a much higher risk. From what I’ve read M$ can activate CIV checks at any time on any game and we don’t really have any idea where they are all located on each game so it’s a bit of roulette with an XGD3 that isn’t burnt with the Burner MAX Firmware. I would highly recommend spending the $20 and getting one of the base-line model burners listed on the front page that supports 100% burning of XGD3 if you’re worried about being banned from Live for playing XGD3 backups.

I couldn’t care less about Live since I don’t use it for anything but I still do everything that c4eva says to do in order to stay as safe as possible.

Some good “rules” to stick to, in my opinion, are:
1. Never update the dash before adequate feedback is reported regarding that update.
2. Always revert to stock FW before updating.
3. Whenever possible, use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs made in Singapore.
4. Use what has worked for you in regards to XGD2 games, but XGD3 should always be burned with one of the burners listed on the front page after flashing it to Burner MAX Firmware.
5. Always realize that no backup is, or ever will be 100% “safe” — We’re taking a risk by using CFW to begin with, so you must accept the possibility of bad things happening right along with the good things that come with CFW.

Good luck and happy gaming m8 =)

Can i burn XGD3 with Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640A ?? I’ve burned Call of Duty: MW3 and also set the right layerbreak. But it burned the whole 100 Percent without an error. But when I look on the DVD i can’t see any burning points – on other DVD’s i can see them!

Hope you can help me!!
