It is normal for it to say 2.0 then yeah? And is it normal for my drive to display XGD3 games the way I described without 3.0?

In regards to the 2.0, yes thats def a jf thing because its not programmed yet.

With my ram upload fail issue, i googled it and it seemed like an issue many others had but not pinned down as to a complete reason. Some fixed by using other computers, fw spoofs, or reboot. Whats odd is its the same laptop unformated with ck3i and usbpro i had no issues flashing with a year ago. Everything followed in jf /xecuter tutorial correctly.

I’m goint to try again later, this time rather than flash the 78 b400 2.0, I’ll try injecting the dumped 2.0 i saved before reverting to stock. I recall when I paid a modder to first put 1.91 in, he spoofed to 79 drive according to jf. I’m not sure why he did that, and I used 78 for the 2.0 because I never used the 79 cd unlock.

I might also just try going straight to the lt 3 fw to see if it works. I have a halo 3 hitachi never opened to mod also, but if i cant get this one going i’ll pay the $15 modder and not risk bricking a barely used drive.

2 others things… i’m already at stock and fully dash updated. That flash was a success, but right now I would’ve just perferred 2.0 was still on for the xgd2′s. And the other, each flash before, i disable the bottom ribbon (easier, with blue tab) going to the laser. These drives are volitile when it comes to flashing and burned a laser out by a modder.

ok.. got it 75% functional now.. disc unreadable on xgd3s

After another attempt the hitachi drive wasn’t recognizing but after a combination of restarting JF, powering on and off ck3 and doing modeb several times, the hitachi drive popped up. I immediately dumped stock and loaded target of my LT 2.0 fw I had previously installed before updates. This worked this time, flashing the drive fine.

I then followed the steps for LT 3 by going to hitachi tab and ctrl-f8
Dumped the LT 2.0, and loaded as target the LT 3 fw followed by spoof. Both these fw’s I had in same folder location.
Back to hitachi tab, forceflash It popped up as one difference.. I retried forceflash and same result, so
continued.
Flash succeded and stable.
Started by playing original disc, good
Put in the xgd3 backup (assassins creed 3), it started the spin and popped up with disc is unreadable error.
Put in an xgd2 game (qualified for LT 2.0) and it played good

So I have the LT 3 fw flashed but looks to still only run xgd2. I’ll dump it later to verify but I think as already stated it will just show LT 2.0 anyways. Somewhere I read somebody was also having read errors after LT 3 flash and was told to tweak the pot.. something not interested in doing now after just replacing the hitachi drive. It played the original and an xgd2 backup just fine.

Anyone have any success for LT 3?? Maybe we’ll have to wait for jf update and or LT ultimate kit.

btw all my discs non truncated using burner max on verbatims, xbg verified.

I gave it a try and after having 10 differences I think I bricked my hitachi. So if anyone has any ideas on how to fix that please let me know. If not I am going to order a new board and try again when that arrives. :-x

did the LT 3 flash to drive after the differences and reported done? Are you getting no reads at all from originals, and both xgd2 and 3 backups?

I had issues today also getting the drive to read into jf, but after a number of tried reconnecting and modeb it popped up. Using ck3i and usbpro.

If you can get it to read, see if you can at least restore to stock or LT 2.0. The only progress i made out of all of this is getting my xbox dash updated lol. Fortunately my benq after doing e78 heatsink fix still work and was the easiest drive for LT 3. I’d trade both my hitachis for a benq.

Mine had 1 difference, not sure if it had any affect on the flash because it finished and still runs xgd 2 and originals good. When I get home I’ll try a few other xgd 3′s

Mine wont read anything and JF will no longer detect it. I tried everything I could think of so I am pretty sure its shot. I ordered a new PCB yesterday and hopefully by the time it gets here someone can shed some light on our situation.

Let me know how your XGD3 testing goes…..

Success with my halo hitachi.
First thing I did was open it up to check drive, a 79 model.
Checked ohm on laser, 4.67k. The xbox has less than a 100 hours use on it and been in my closet.
Checked ohms on the old elite’s 78 which popped up a disc unread error on XGD3, 3.33k. This is a replacement drive and used for a good year or so.
Ran through flash procedure, this time flashing stock to LT 3. This one has 12 differences but stable finish.
Started xbox up and first ran original, an xgd2, and finally a xgd3, all loaded good.

So the elite’s laser is the issue a second time but only for xgd3. But at 3.33 its getting a bit low. Rather than risk it tweaking it, I may just keep it for a xgd2 and retail system for now.

Def sounds like you’re having a drive issue. Hopefully your laser is good. I had issues with the elite also when flashing to LT2, not recognizing drive. If you keep having the issue, just keep reconnecting everything.

This info was provided to me, safe to flash stock to LT 3 confimed
freeflash gives you the option to flash what ever you want without the normal jf hitachi
restrictions, freeflash will flash all sectors that differ, warnings will appear about key if it is not the same
and the option not to flash key will be given.
There is no reason not to flash directly to LT3.0 from stock,
the reason it was probably worded that way is that the differences from 2.0 to 3.0 were not that much,
it would be just as safe going directly to 3.0 from 2.0 and then you are only flashing once,
restoring to stock then to 3.0 requires two complete flashes.
So just freeflash from stock to LT3.0
As with all flashing there are risks involved more so with hitachi,
having a good hitachi set up is essential, getting ram upload errors is a little concerning.

good luck

After trial and error and my new PCB coming in the mail, I tried again…. This time I was SUCCESSFUL! I was able to flash the drive from Stock to LT 3.0. I had 11 differences but flashed all sectors and BINGO! I can play everything in my 360 now!

Thanks for the help novak2k6. Enjoy the new LT 3.0!
