i don’t see why this wouldn’t work. from what i remember of spoofing, you can put the firmware for another drive and your xbox will think that is what the drive is. so if you put samsung 2.01 onto a hitachi drive (older ones) or benq/liteon 2.0 (for the ones that do ap2.5 checks), then shouldn’t the drive be able to read xgd3 games? i only have a liteon drive in my house at the moment, so i can’t try this out. maybe someone can give it a shot and post their success. if that would work then a lot of people are upset and waiting for no reason.

i guess that was too simple of an idea. samsung fw wouldn’t make the hitachi work. but you could get a non-hitachi drive and use that in your same xbox. it’s basically your choice to wait an unspecified amount of time, or get a new drive to use while you wait.

you CAN spoof your drive, I had my hitachi spoofed as a BENQ for awhile, however, spoofing is NOT live safe. if you don’t want to play online then go ahead

so you can confirm that burned xgd3 games will work when you put benq 2.0 fw onto your hitachi??

also i never ever had problems with spoofing and playing online, despite what everyone said about not being safe. i even failed the 13599 update because i had a benq and it was trying to reflash my liteon9. i tried it twice before i realized i needed to change my drive. i never had my xval flagged and was never banned, and when i put the liteon back the update went fine. but they can always add new security measures, so try at your own risk.

I CAN’T confirm that xgd3 games will work on a hitachi spoofed as another drive using cfw LT+ 2.0… I meant that I used to have my hitachi spoofed as a BENQ. not recently though.

yeah, that’s the only thing about spoofing… on the tutorial for jungleflasher it says everywhere that it’s not recommended to spoof and use on live. but since I am thinking about it, I was spoofed and was connected to live (and most likely played on live) and was never flagged/banned… so idk.

just giving my personal experience/knowledge lol

either way, I would listen to what the ‘pros’ say about spoofing not being safe for live, they know ALOT more than me and most ppl on this forum

i have asked many people and no one could give me an explanation as to why spoofing was bad. they just treated me like a “noob” and said “go try it and don’t cry when you are banned, since you don’t want to listen.” i was offended because i do my research, i have checked all over and see no reason why spoofing is bad. if someone could tell me something other than “it’s more likely to get banned”… it’s not like there’s a random chance to get banned. only thing i could figure is, if you’re supposed to have a drive that does ap2.5 checks and you put in a drive that doesn’t, then you will fail the check. or if you do the 13599 update it would see that you have the wrong drive (which happened to me and no ban), but other than that no one can tell me what happens or how MS determines you are spoofing. i have had multiple people tell me that they DID play online spoofed and did NOT get banned or have any problems… so it’s either take the “experts” word at face value, or go by my own experience. again if someone could explain it to me i would be more inclined to believe it.

I think some things needs to be clarified here…
When you say “I had my hitachi spoofed as a BENQ” means that:
1. You injected your Hitachi DVD key into a BENQ firmware and then flashed it to your original Hitachi drive?
2. Or you injected your Hitachi DVD key into a BENQ firmware and then flashed it to a BENQ drive to replace your original Hitachi Drive?

I losted it from here , now I´m really confused.

What I know is that the first method is not possible, are you sure that a firmware for a particular brand -model will work in a different brand-model drive only by spoofing the dvd key?.
If that would be true then why are we waiting for a Hitachi firmware?, let’s everybody use the Benq 2.0 firmware into our Hitachi drives!!!.

that’s what i was thinking… i thought spoofing was using a firmware that is different than the drive so the xbox still thinks you have the correct drive. i used liteon firmware with my liteon key in a benq drive because i messed up my liteon9 when you had to cut and solder the trace. (i have since had more practice soldering, and now the read method for liteons all just require the mpx01 probe.) but can you use a different firmware in your drive than what your xbox expects to have? in other words, i know you can use the “wrong” firmware on your drive, but can you use the “wrong” drive (firmware) in your xbox as long as it has the correct key?

@goyik: my mistake, I meant to say that I had a BENQ spoofed as my hitachi.
