Forza 4 has a new Content Integrity Verification (CIV for short) check. New LT firmware to be released soon. When we burn xgd3 with image burn that the dual layers we use cant fit the whole ripped game and only 98% of the data can be burned, well there is a new protection thats been introduced and its located at the last 2% of the data we cant burn. we are going to have to reflash our drives to 2.1

is there truth to this?

i figured eventually theyd do something like that, but wow, within a week of LT 2.0… thats fuckin insane they must have already had this planned

of course it was planned and until bigger media is able to be brought this will be a problem as civ isnt checking for 1 file it checks the comlete image file for file if not 100% the same then fail and would assume flagged but u know what they say about assuming things. who knows but will see

they had it planned all along im sure, when c4eva said that the disc would stop burning at 97% i said ohhh boy here we go.. M$ must have had it already planned and done and simply waited till c4eva released 2.0 and then they put it on the next game that came out

Forza 4 went gold ages ago and discs would have already been pressed and boxed up before LT+ 2.0 came out, so it’s just a coincidence. It’s obvious that only burning 97% of the ISO to a disc wasn’t going to work for long though!

Forget this FW junk…it has outlived it usefulness.. It is time to upgrade to ODE’s. Then we can actually let MS find their shitty little file and not flag us.

Im sure title updates are in the works to make GOW3, Driver, Warhammer, and the other working XGD3 games do similar “3% gotcha checks” and make this FW a lost cause. Think about it for a second, why WOULDNT THEY?

“Hey Infinity Ward, give me the name of a file that exist on the last 3% of the disc..” Next security check…verify that “blah-blah.xdi” exists. …oh it doesn’t exist.. Ok then, *FLAGGED*

This is not a knock on c4eva. He has done a great job but he has just run out of options. Sometimes you just cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

I agree with jlogan2042.

Even if a disc manufacturer brought out larger capacity discs, every XGD3 game has AP2.5 protection, so every time the dashboard is updated all they have to do is update the DAE table (as they have been doing already) and you’d have to re-patch and re-burn every single XGD3 game. It’s not like with XGD2 games where there were only 6 affected titles. The new dashboard update in November is likely to have further protection in it too.

The only real hope for custom firmware going forward is if someone finds a way to completely defeat AP2.5 (which nobody has done yet) and if Verbatim or whoever bring out discs large enough to fit the games on to.

This is what he does, he like to play the game, but are you guys really going to complain? you know how money he has saved us over the years. I count 4k alone on “backups”. so if its over and you have to start buying games, big deal. get over it. all goods things come to an end sometimes and life goes on but dont complain about it.

jlogan2042, ur a little bit heavy on this. I actually play Forza 4 with burned dual layer and it works fine. I dont care about being flagged because im already banned from XBL.
