No news since more than a month, not a word.

actually if you’ve been reading there is lots of news: this should clear up any misunderstanding about the 147xx updates, the 1175 fw, the ihas-b/c issue, and c4eva’s status. my notes are in brackets to add context.

(2012-03-15 at 07:29AM) admin says: What part of “c4eva is perfectly fine and is just very busy” doesn’t answer your question? Just because he hasn’t said anything publicly in a while, doesn’t mean he’s not around. He’s always in communication with us. I know people are eager for news, but you just have to be patient. If there’s something he wants to announce, he will, or we’ll relay it on his behalf. [THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER]

(2012-03-14 at 02:55PM) admin says: These days, c4eva is the only one on the team who’s properly equipped for generating LIVE logs, and more importantly, has the ability to interpret them. It’s very likely that nothing has changed in the logs, as on the surface this last update was merely bug fixes, with no ill effect on fw or RGH. [regarding 14719]

(2012-03-03 at 07:30AM) admin says: Nothing is “going on”, he’s been very busy working on 1175. At least on the surface, the update doesn’t appear to have had any effect on fw or RGH. Whether it changed anything else, however slim the chance is, can only be answered by c4eva doing a set of LIVE logs. Keep in mind that changes can happen and have happened without any immediate visible effect on the fw, e.g. the DAE.bin silent updates. That isn’t to say this update does anything of the sort, but the possibility always exists. If you’re fine with taking someone else’s word on the safeness of an update, then by all means go ahead and update. For those who prefer to have a truly definitive answer, based on actual LIVE logs that only he does, then patiently await a green light from c4eva. Nobody is being forced to update or not update — you do so at your own discretion. For the utmost safety, it’s always recommended that you heed the caution so as to not get caught with your pants down if or when MS springs something new. [also regarding 14719]

(2012-03-18 at 06:29PM) admin says: I’ve already seen this incite rumour from people misinterpreting and jumping to conclusions, so let me clarify my previous comments on this subject by saying that despite c4eva’s intention, this is by no means a guarantee that the C’s can or will be done. The C version employs a new encrypted chipset, and as of right now, Burner MAX fw will not work with it.
Lite-On has discontinued production of the B version, and many retailers/wholesalers will soon (if they haven’t already) run out of stock and/or raise prices on what stock they still have.
We strongly recommend that you make every effort possible to find a B version while they’re still available.

(2012/03/09 at 05:38AM) admin said: It’s already on his To-Do list. [ihas-c burner max fw]

(2012/03/02 at 06:23PM) admin said: Currently, only the “B” versions of the iHAS drives are supported. However, the team has been collecting dumps of the new “C” version for a while, and c4eva plans to take a look at doing a version of Burner MAX that supports it.

(2012-02-09 at 12:37PM) admin says: Nothing like that. And the encryption isn’t an issue anymore. [encryption of the dumped original firmware of the 1175 drives]

Since its been two months since C4e “spoke” and this site is dedicated to the master and his words, its hard not to speculate what is going on with the scene right now. It seems like an extended dead period, with not just this site being kinda “dry” at the moment. Either way, I just want to say that I hope all is well with C4 and beyond all this scene stuff that I totally appreciate all he’s done for us. Godspeed C4, and all the best!!!
