Basically what it says in the title.. I’ve gone and gotten myself banned on xbox live due to being stupid and buying 6K accounts  and ended up buying an unbanned xbox but with a dodgy drive off of a friend. My question is, can I swap these drives round and spoof them so that it will be okay to play online? As im going to sell it to a secondhand shop and i dont want it back firing on me :-|

No you cant spoof it as any other type of drive, that will cause it to fail any updates. The only way to swap drives is to just put the 360′s drive key on the replacement drive with the correct firmware for the drive! In the last year or so the drive’s have not changed in the updates and so long as you put an AP drive in it all should be ok. But the only 100% safe way is to swap like for like. The laser’s are the same in the Lite-On/Benq’s if thats the issue just swap the lasers over.

If you don’t spoof it and just inject the key it will update correctly. Not the safest thing to do though.

technically it would fail the 13599 update, because that is the one that reflashed the dvd drive. it would try to write liteon fw to a benq or benq fw to a liteon. but that’s not an issue if you are already updated past that dash.

It will flash fine if it isn’t spoofed. I had a BenQ on stock FW with key injected in a box that originally had a liteon. It upgraded the BenQ to the correct new BenQ FW when I installed the 13599 update. I don’t know if that works all the time but it did for me.
