Hi, i have question about Hitachi 78 drive.
Some time ago i replace my original LiteOn DG-16D2S with Hitachi 78 (LT 2.0). I don’t have LiteOn anymore (RIP). So, when LT+3.0 for Hitachi 78 out, did i can play XGD3 games ? I ask because i try play XGD3 discs on Samsung TS-H943 drive, and they don’t boot up ! I’m afraid, this is wait me and with Hitachi.
Who can say, did 3.0 “save” me or RGH or LiteOn drive only ?

as long as they aren’t truncated discs they should boot fine when hitachi 3.0 comes out. however it is not really considered safe to use a different model drive than what your xbox originally had. you would be better off to get a liteon.

But why TS-H943 drive don’t play XGD3 ? I tried truncated and non-truncated discs, “Disc can not be read, try clean it and blah-blah-blah”. I burn XGD3 image with LT Burner MAX with dummy topology (Patch 3.0 to 2.0), launch on Hitachi 78 – and see Unsupported disc message. Try with title updates – same hell.
All new games run away from me :(

the samsung cannot do ap2.5 checks, but your xbox expects to have a liteon, which can do the checks. so when it tries to do it, but the samsung can’t, it fails and won’t boot. the patches for making xgd3 games compatible with 2.0 will only work if you are on dash 13599 or 13604 and do not have the silent dae.bin update, which it seems like you probably do.

either get a liteon, or wait for hitachi 3.0. or do the rgh as you mentioned, but of course then you can’t go online.
