hey i found out that some hp dvd writers are iHAS424 drives but with hp’s fw. so i looked up light on fw and i got a program called fw flasher and i heard that it is a iHAS424a drive so i started that one and it said that it was the wrong drive so i tried that iHAS424B fw and it showed up as that drive the only problem is when i hit write flash i get a error, so i was wondering do you think i would spoof the drive as iHAS424B fw when c4 makes it for jf?

I am not sure what the D means with your drive. I know the hp1270i and e are 624B drives. The e version is same as I version but inside an external case.

Sounds like you are trying to use the self flashing exe from liteon. When I flashed a 1270 yesterday I used flash utility and eeprom utility from codeguys site. I didn’t have any problem. I did not notice d on it but I never pay attention to what windows say they are.
