Nope not safe until lt 3.0 comes out, unless you have a Samsung or pre-78 Hitachi but the Hitachi isn’t possible if you had lt 1.9 since there was no 1.9 for pre-78 Hitachis.

Can you play older (non Ap-25) title on live yet w/ the newest Hitachi Firmware? I’ve have not been flagged yet, 2+ years and don’t want to start now!

TRS71 – if you connect to live, you will get the “silent dae.bin update” and you will not be able to play any ap2.5/xgd3 games online or offline without LT3.0 or possibly by doing the title update trick. you will still be able to play all non-ap2.5 xgd2 games without any problems both online and offline.

TRS71 – Hitachi 79 should be fine as it does not check AP25, but like always, nothing is 100% safe.

Why wouldn’t it be safe to update until LT 3.0? If you want to play backups then you definitely shouldn’t update, of course, but if you only intend to play originals for a few days then what would the problem be?

Unless the whole “flash to stock before any update” deal is still in effect, that is. (Is it?)

theoretically microsoft could read your firmware and see it is not ofw, that is why people flash to stock for updates. locked slims are safe though.

I thought it was only pre 78/79 Hitachi’s that didn’t do the
AP25 check.

I have a Hitachi 79 and did the update and everything still works just the same. I still get a lot of dirty disc errors but nothing has changed.
