Thanks in advance. This is my very first comment and hope to do it right. I seek advice.
I have reasons to suspect one of my consoles has been flagged. Until a couple of weeks ago, I had my consoles money modded. I could not find the guy for a long time and therefore could not update to proper firmware on time and tried to play Black Ops when it came out. I remember the game wouldn’t run and then I learned that my console was almost certainly be flagged. I have not gone live since then. (I forgot to mention I had two consoles and I thought was a reading disc problem so I went and tried to play the game in on the other, the first one got banned from “live” that’s why I have not try again to enter live using the other one) these events occurred when firmware was 1.4. “on banned one” and 1.6 on the suspected banned console.
Now, I don’t rely on that guy anymore and I did my own flashing. The consoles have now the latest Lt 2.0 version (thanks truly C4E..) The question basically is: I read in this forums that playing backups thanks to the newest firmware is “safe” for live, but If what I suspect is true (about my console being flagged or “marked for banning”), will this firmware still protect the console? can I go live or in other words: will LT 2.0 be any good if what I suspect is true? (I have upgraded also to latest dashboard version)
Please excuse me if I wrote a lot to just ask something very little, bear with me please and I would appreciate some light on this matter.
Thank you really.

HI, if your already flaggedg, your flagged, 2.0 wont protect you, its just basically luck of the draw.

I had 2 of my consoles get banned back in the oct/2009 ban wave that were on 1.61 the most current firmware at that time. I had a 3rd one that wasnt on much during that time, but unhooked it from the live once the other 2 got banned and it stayed offline until jan/2011. I decided to take it back online this past January. Went ahead and took it back to stock updated it to the newest dashboard and then flashed it with the newest lt plus firmware. Took it online right after and was banned as soon as I hooked it to live. Chances are if you were flagged back during that time and try to take it back on live you prolly will get banned. May or may not. That is just my experience.

Thank you people for your replies. I understand that it is a Russian roulette-like thing to go live now.

Other thing I did not mention was that There was another console recently banned, for what I have been learning lately, this banning to my console could have very well been as a result of the recent false (AP25) bans and subsequent reversal. That event was both shocking and weird in a funny way, I remember I was just attempting to enter Xbox live and suddenly !BAM! .this console has been …. bla bla bla. I didn’t kwnow a thing a month ago about modding or flashing etc. I still don’t know much aside from the ultra basics. But to share a nice experience with you people hoping someone would read this and perhaps be of any good to him, this is what I did.

Those three consoles I have been talking about are PHAT I realized that the banning wouldn’t have happened (at least not that easy) If I have had a way to do things myself considering the fact that there are people like you out there to guide and help in this matters and by the time this happened c4eva had indeed released a lt version which protected the console from being flagged.

So, I gave that third console away to a friend.

I was so upset that, from his house I went directly to Best Buy and acquired my first Slim Xbox and Gears 3 game. (upset because all my attempts to reach the “tech guy” and have my consoles updated were futile, this should give you and idea of how recent these events occurred and how much new I am on this)

Once at home, I hooked the new Xbox to Live and I found that my gamer tag or Xbox-live profile was not affected and still in good standing.

Next day I went and look fot the “tech guy” and the humilliating part (this is the reason I write this and really hope to encourage someone “”although maybe if that person comes this far to read this in this forum it is indicative that needs no encouraging at all but on the contrary is here to give some good advice not seek one“” The bad side of this or to give you people a better picture is that I would have liked to have a video cam so I could show well to you guys the “I am God attitude” this guy assumes towards everyone who needs his help. Just try to picture the ridiculous DIVA attitude an almost unknown actor assumes when he is lucky enough to be approached by someone and ask for an autograph.

Well he was not in the mood to do anything that afternoon although he does it for good money, and my two remaining PHAT consoles, my dismay or frustration and I, returned home.

(I forgot to mention that the new rig, the Slim one remains untouched so far)

So what did I do?, I started to use the brain for the fist time and !there it is! I discovered that C4E and people like you exist. That Jungle flasher exists!, that you guys have just released the Lt 2.0 firmware for the consoles !, etc.
So in really no time I had both my remaining Phat rigs re-flashed back to stock, upgraded to latest dashboard version and then upgraded to Lt 2.0, (I was screwing up with the first drive and thanks to Jungle flasher’s team on line on irc for guidance and assistance I solved the prob or recovered from it)

Where am I now ?, I am trying to be as helpful as I can, donated Jungle-flasher via Paypal, I managed to find and bought a new Lite on DVD writer iHAS 224B, used the iXtreme Burner MAX firmware V1.0 for Liteon iHAS drives. Now my only problem is the bunch of coasters I am generating when trying to burn the XGD3 games with no verification errors which now I found out HERE, it is a media problem.

I will still have that problem until I find a way around because I can’t get Verbatim media around here nowhere (unbelievable).

My next step? I will find out how to open the Slim Console, figure out what DVD brand or type it runs, and if model is right. FLASH it !.

I would take the BenQ drive out of the already banned console, flash it with LT 0800 v3.0, and use it to create my own backups.

In general, I guess the whole point here is to say all this to you as a weird manner to pay tribute to you both richy76, and you jcb1973, and c4eva and many others I am sure now did not post any comment to my question because they saw it was allready answered, so Thank you guys really for your so much clear answer to my original concern and for responding.

what discs are you using if you can’t get verbatim? some people have been successful by forcing the discs to burn at 2.4x. also if you are using imgburn to verify your discs, that has been shown to not be a reliable method. some times imgburn fails but KProbe passes and the disc is fine to use.

2011-10-27 at 08:02PM UTC #3141

the brand in the disc says SoniK DATA
dvd indentifiers reports:

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R-DL:MBIPG101-R12-000]
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R DL] – [DVD+R DL]
Manufacturer Name : [Moser Baer India Ltd.]
Manufacturer ID : [MBIPG101]
Media Type ID : [R12]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [4,173,824 Sectors = 8.55 GB (7.96 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [2.4x , 3.3x-8x]

Funny thing (I really keep Learning, I see why maybe I could not burn the discs right. Until know I am noticing that the discs do not support 4x speed burning, although DVD info Pro shows the following:

Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
Media code/Manufacturer ID MBIPG101¿R1
Media Product Revision Number 00h

Any Ideas ? There is some info I jut don’t understand yet, one programs reports one speed 2.4x , 3.3x-8x and other says 4x is available.
Thanks again..

the Available Write Descriptors are the different speeds that your drive will burn that disc at. yours says 4, 6, and 8x for the MBIPG101-R12-000 discs. not sure why that other program says 2.4x, 3.3x-8x… however i learned that it is the firmware of your drive that decides what speed is acceptable, not actually anything about the disc. so if you mod your firmware to think that your discs are 2.4x then it will do it. there is a method here:

QuickMythril: Thank you, I read the article. Got the Media Code Speed Edit Program, What I don’t quite understand is if you are recommending me to choose a specific type of code to be replaced or you think the media I am using it’s OK and I just have to write my burns and higher speed, It is a bit confusing for me.

Forgive my stupidity on this, I realize this must be a very simple thing to accomplish but It’s just that I am not quite sure how to follow your advise. I mean:

To burn my backups I intent to keep on using this media unless I get lucky enough to grab some Verb’s which I doubt.

Also, when using the Media Code Speed Edit program, I see that there are only two MBIPG101 codes or versions available and both reflect burning speeds 4x, 6x, and 8x. Unlike the RICOHJPN which only allows 2.4x in the example described in the article, and since the “setting speed” is greyed, I assume there is no way I can change tose settings and therefore make my drive “think” my current media can be recorded or supports 2.4x burn speed rate, Am I making sense here ? or perhaps I am lost..

But thank you so much for this useful information from you, I am on it……..

the greyed out checkboxes do not work with the firmware for ihas drives. what you have to do is double-click the media type you have, which would be MBIPG101-R12-000, then it asks you which you want to replace it with. you can pick any of the 5 ones that support 2.4x. it will give you a warning. click yes, then click save. it will make a new firmware file, which you write to your ihas with flashutility. after that your discs should be able to burn at 2.4x.

Thanks ! I appreciate it. Will do that this evening.
