A lot of people are experiencing games suddenly not booting. XGD3 and AP2.5 protected XGD2 games won’t boot (disc unsupported error) and the console is also flagged for a ban for failing an AP2.5 challenge.

Some are speculating that it’s related to the kernel version that shows in System Settings. I do not believe it’s this as I have the same kernel version as the people affected and I’m running a console that’s never been connected to Xbox Live and is still on dashboard version 2.0.13599.0 and all games still boot fine for me. XVal is also clean.

Also, some are saying that certain games are triggering it, such as MW3 or the new Assassin’s Creed. I also don’t believe that this is true, as I’ve played backups of both of these games and my console is fine.

I think it’s some kind of update they’re rolling out silently over Xbox Live. My guess would be that they’re updating the DAE table either in the background or via a title update, probably the former. Obviously, this is just an educated guess and we’ll have to wait for c4eva to speak up on the matter, but the only common factor at the moment is having a console connected to Xbox Live.

We’ve confirmed that the dae.bin has changed in the new Xbox 360 Fall 2011 Preview Dash (2.0.14686.0). It’s been reported by another team member that there now appears to be 2 tables of challenges, with a combined total of 192 challenges. c4eva has reported to the team that XGD2 and XGD3 backups are still booting under LT+ v2.0/2.01 (from team channel: [2011-11-10 08:58PM UTC] backups,xgd3 still booting). However, do not take this as a sign that everything is fine. Booting backups with older AP25 replay sectors on 14686 may get you flagged. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! We can confirm though that these changes will indeed necessitate new versions of and/or changes to Xbox Backup Creator, abgx360, and several other associated tools. It has also been confirmed by the team that drive fw’s are not affected. All the changes are currently being analyzed, and we’ll continue to update this post when further details become available.

I do believe this is the case that many of us are seeing.

It would be the case if you have the beta dashboard installed, as we know for certain that the DAE table changes in that. All of the people that are getting flagged are still on the current regular dashboard though, which is why my guess is that they can now update dae.bin in the background outside of a dashboard update.
