So can anyone help clear this up for me.

I was under the impression that if your replace a faulty xbox 360 drive with a different make.
for arguments sake lets say the original faulty drive was a liton and i replace it with a samsung I must spoof the drive in order for the drive to work. Also I believe spoofing the drive will reduce the chance of live ban.

Am I right?

The other thing that confuses me is some people say you don’t need to spoof a drive for it to work. And that you only need to make sure you transfer the key across. And if so then surly this runs the risk of being banned unless you never go online.

Is this correct?

Can someone please clear this up for me.

Thanks

It kinda depends on what you are spoofing. For instance your system came with a liteon and you then spoof a samsung as the liteon. What that is doing is making the motherboard think it has a liteon in it like it came with. The osig is still on the motherboard for the liteon it came with. When ap25 check is initiated by loading a game with ap25 it reads the osig on the motherboard and sends ap25 checks to the drive in the system. Now that there is a samsung in the system and does not support ap25, so the drive returns invalid response and will not load. Will likely flag the system as well.

so will just using the samsung drive un-spoofed but with valid key on a console that had a liton drive still work.

And then will ap checked games work because the console isn’t going to try and send the ap check as I Havant tried to trick the console into thinking it still as a liton drive installed.

Cheers!

I assume this would also result in a possible ban.

I am not sure. I don’t think that will work either. The motherboard will still send the checks and the drive would still fail. I think you can only get by with spoofing other drives as samsung. I think motherboards that came with samsung drives don’t send the check.

Hay whompus60

Your right the Samsung drive still didn’t work with ap25 games when unspoofed.

I have hitachi 79 drive so once the new firmware comes out I will use that.

The hitachi 79 drive should work because that should be able to do ap25 checks.
