Most folk become ’round shiny thing collectors’ because of these firmwares, by that I mean a lot of people pick up every new image, put it away for to ‘get to’ at some point, a lot of people never do actually get back to the game in any real way, they have a quick play and then it gets put back in the collection until the next image goes up.

This new format break has meant that many are actually looking at those games for once which is good, as a very old ex ‘scene’ person going back many years I’ve been the victim of being a collector and not a player, first it was five and a quarter disks in the Atari / C64 years, then 3.5 disks in the Amiga, ST, Snes copier and PC days, now its CD’s & DVD’s, all collected as they came out, rarely ever loaded in a lot of cases and left to gather dust while you play the next BIG game for a little bit.

I’m just saying its nice to have this enforced break for the non jtagged people, I bet you went back to older stuff and played that for a bit, I purchased Renegade Ops form Live, loved it, nice little retro type game. I also had another long bash at Castlevania Lords of Shadows which I’d put aside.

I hope others have taken this chance to actually play those collected titles that you have stored away..

Have to agree :P Played through all C.O.D.s and totally enjoyed again. Showing my age but even hooked up my original Nintendo, super and N64 and once again enjoyed Zelda. Was a loyal Nintendo fan till WII then went to the 360.
Actually still have a Vectrex that can’t bring myself to part with.
Anyway, playing beats the hell out of complaining.

Top man sammyboy, you could get a fair price for the Vectrex on Ebay…

As I sit here I look at my ‘Retro tower’, Its got an Atari 800, an Atari 800XL, An ATari 1040ST
A US Snes with wild card, A PS2, an Xbox, Gamecube and a Dreamcast, all working.

There’s some serious gaming goodness in all that, might add a C64 if I see one real cheap.

So while I wait for the firmware and the dumps I’ve got plenty to play, only just went back and played Black on the Xbox, still a bloody lovely game.
