I have an iHAS 124 DU drive which I’ve used to burn XDG2 games with Memorex DL dvds without any problem; when I tried to burn XDG3 games (with the burner max payload tool) I got mixed results: 2 correct burns that install correctly and 2 failed burns at 50%.
I brought a pack of 20 Verbatim MKM001 dvds and I’ve had some terrible results:
The first 3 burns: (XDG3 iso OPC=OFF SB=ON FHT=ON OS=ON OHT=OFF) 1 failure, 1 correct and 1 failure in that order
The 4th burn: (XDG3 iso OPC=Clear SB=ON FHT=ON OS=ON OHT=OFF) failure
5th and 6th burns: (XDG2 iso OPC=OFF SB=ON FHT=ON OS=ON OHT=OFF) 1 success and 1 failed verification that installed correctly
All failures were at 50% verification and all of them fail installation at 49% with the exception of the last that installs correctly (it was the triple pack that includes trials, splosion man and limbo).

Any idea about what may be causing all these failures? The MKM001 were quite expensive and I’d rather not keep wasting them.

i bought some kodak dvds from amazon and got a refund because i had about half of them not even show up as “blank disc” when i inserted them into the drive, and the ones that did burn would fail most of the time. it is possible you just got a bad batch of discs, in which case that is a quality issue and you should be able to get your money back. i also had problems with some dvds bought at target once and they said i had to have over half of the discs remaining to get my money back.

it could also be that your laser is failing. if you have any way to try another drive that would be recommended.

The drive is less than a month old, so I don’t think that’s the cause
In my initial search I found some mention of how other people have problems with MKM001 discs so I’m hoping that someone who has the same drive and dvds could read this and tell me if they too had problems.
As for the discs I hope it’s not that because I bought them in the local equivalent of ebay and I’d have to pay postage to get the warranty
