Well, i decided to ask my freind for 1 verbatim disk, it was the 8x double layer model. I burn it yesterday and it worked just fine out of my HP 1260i burner with the max payload tool. I purchased a spindle of Verbatims MKM 001 that was pretty expensive and im now about to shit bricks because of it. I dont know how to update the firmware(believe me i googled it) and i believe its because of something but i just dont know what. Heres the string with the error.

try ejecting the disc and then put the disc back in and in ImgBurn go to the menu and choose Tools > Drive > Close > Disc. i have had discs sometimes stop at 99% finalizing but it never gave me those errors it would just sit at 99% for hours until i manually quit out of imgburn using task manager. usually it’s not a big deal if it goes all the way to 99%, it seems like all the data burned fine. i think when i tried to re-finalize the disc it might have even told me that it was already done. give that a try and let us know what happens.

Odd I have never seen that error. Every now and then ill get an I/o error which oh well shit disc or something happened to make it a coaster but nothing like what your having. Usually I would say re-write burner max to the drive BUT with a HP using the payload tool im not sure what you would need. I got an Ihas way back when so I honestly haven’t been following the trend on cross flashing and payload tool. Maybe check Hp and see if there’s a fw update or search for a way to dump the drive.

Also and I may be wrong again i’m unfamiliar with it. since its stalling at 99% maybe its something wrong with the payload tool. Being at the end maybe it isn’t functioning properly and writing in the extra padding that buner max is made for. Have you tried running the disc and seeing what happens?

Im actually having this EXACT same problem and I haven’t found a fix for it at all.

I also am using the same drive and DVDs as yourself.
