i just bought this xbox360phat with a dual bios samsung drive…and lt 1.61… so right now i can’t play any new game with ap2.5… but i didn’t bother ’cause i was playing on live with my original game…

then the new dashboard came out and my xbox when tryed to update just freezes doing nothing.. so right now i can’t play any old backup games nor my old original game online…

the site that sold me the console told me that in order to make it work again i should buy a new drive and then flash to LT 1.91.. and i don’t know if this is true :S

since i don’t want to buy another drive (i just payed the console more than a normal one ’cause of this dual bios) … is the new LT 2.0 going to work with my drive or i need to go for a drive without dual bios?

what i should do to play again?

thanks in advice and sorry for my english

I never heard of a “dual bios” dvd drive… There is no LT 1.61, if you meant 1.91 then I am still confused because there is no 1.91 for Samsung drives. It is possible that you have a Samsung drive that is spoofed as another brand, which means the original drive that was in that xbox was not a Samsung. If that is the case then you need to buy the correct drive in order to be able to update.

I would contact the site and tell them you want a copy of your dvd drive’s original firmware and dvd key, that way you can see what type of drive it had originally, and also the dvd key is required if you are going to put a different drive in that xbox. Again I have no idea what a dual bios drive is, maybe you can explain that some more, or show us what website you bought this xbox from.

i just checked and it’s written i have iXtreme 1.61 as CFW (a bit old i think)

the wrote to me that a dual bios drive is a regular drive.. they just installed a double sized eprom flash in order to put two firmware i think… they put also an electronic E-switch to let me choose which way i want to start the xbox (if i turn on by pressing the power button it’s in original mode, if i turn on by the cd open button will go in modded mode)

i bought from http://www.dvdmod.it but they don’t sell it anymore the arcade phat version… only the slim one…

thank you for the help

ok yeah ixtreme 1.6 is not live safe, so you should never play online with that, but if you start it up in regular mode that would be ok to go online. so now does your xbox even turn on or what? i would suggest disconnecting your internet, and then going to the system settings and see what version dashboard you have.

if you need to update your dash still i would think that it might not work with that drive since it is technically not recognized by MS as a Samsung drive. someone said that if you update and leave the drive tray open and don’t let it close while updating that might work because it prevents the drive from being reflashed. so i would try that next.

just keep in mind you need to be able to connect your drive to a computer to be able to change the firmware that is on the drive, so if the update works then you would want to put the new Samsung OFW on the “regular side” of the flash, and put LT 1.9 on the “modded half”

my xbox is unplagged from the router… it turns on both ways… and my dashboard is 2.0.12625.0

the problem is that i’ve never done that before… i’m a total noob

and i can’t understand why the site that sold me the xbox says can’t update the way you told me…

ok try this. turn it on with the power button so it loads the regular dvd firmware, then once it starts up, open the drive tray. after that connect to the internet and let it try to update. make sure to hold onto the drive or put something to prevent it from closing. it should let you update your xbox and not mess with your dvd firmware at all.

the only problem with that is you will have the old Samsung OFW and iXtreme 1.6, neither of which are really intended for the new dashboard, so i don’t know if games will still play or if it would be ok to go online.
