i used a old lt switch to make my spunik and it mounts outside the drive. works great!! how i did it
the lt switch came with the qsb that u attached to the dvd drive board well we dont need that. just the switch and the wire that connects it to the dvd drive. the cable goes from the switch to a dvd power cable cut the three skinny wires red black and brown loose from the dvd power cable then with it still pluged to the switch solder the black wire to c59 on the dvd drive make cut on the trace solder red wire to ground close drive. mount switch to outside of drive. then when switch is in mra mode the drive is normal and when switch is in normal it will unlock with jf beeps status 0×000 no need to repair the trace

the LT switch i have was just a little chip that you solder to the dvd board, and it had a little switch on the chip. i might need to make a sputnik soon, so i am curious to know what your LT switch consisted of since the only thing i have is the part you said you don’t need…

ok i found the LT switch v2.0 that you have, i think i had whatever one came before the 1.5… maybe just the original one. i wonder if it is still possible to make a sputnik with mine? probably not though because the multi-resistor wasn’t included until 1.5

yes it is but any simple switch will work

all u need is a switch and 2 wires 1 resistor 10k make so switch on gound connected to resistor switch off there not connected

so you are saying, when the switch is on, the ground line out from the dvd power cable runs thru the resistor first then back to the rest of the ground line, and when the switch is off the ground line runs uninterupted to the motherboard like usual, or the ground line just cuts short at the switch?

i think i am either trying to oversimplify or overcomplicate this.

you just need to connect c59 to ground with a resistor and switch between them?

a is ground any place on dvd drive pcb
b is c59 on dvd pcb

now solder one wire to a spot u pick for ground “a”
now solder one wire to c59 on dvd pcb “b” solder 10k resistor to other end of either wire now solder “a” to one prong on switch and b to the other prong when “a & b” are touching it will unlock with jf status 0×0000 when there not drive is normal i did cut the trace but didnt repair and drive works fine
