Thanks for all your work C4. My 360 is ancient, but still works like a charm since I got it fixed after the RROD over 2 years ago. I have the old Hitachi 46 drive. Waiting for 2.0 like all other Hitachi owners. I was wondering, if I got a newer drive, like a BenQ or Samsung, Would I be able to just swap out my old Hitachi for one of those? Just wondering if its that simple. Could be a benefit to have a newer drive in the future for these firmware releases. Any advice is appreciated.

your xbox will always want/expect to have a hitachi since that is what it was manufactured with. if you put a benq or some other drive, it will still need hitachi firmware (called spoofing) to function. however there is still no hitachi 2.0, so you’d just have a benq with hitachi 1.9 instead of a hitachi with hitachi 1.9. you would need a different xbox to avoid the hitachi wait.

That’s not completely true. What you would have is a system with benq drive and benq 2.0 firmware with hitachi key spoofed to it. That would work but could result in more likelyhood of a ban in the future. If you do that (which I did) you will need to remember to take extra steps when new dashboards are released. For instance, flash the hitachi back to original firmware, and when there is a system update dont except it until you remove the spoofed drive and put back in the original hitachi. Take the update with original in it then put back in the spoofed (flashed) drive.

quello che voglio sapere e perché c4eva si sta concentrando per un problema secondario come quello di masterizzare i giochi al 100% e non sul fare lt+ 2.0 per hitachi che è molto più importante !!!

i remember always putting the firmware of the drive that the xbox expects. i guess you could put it however you wanted, but i didn’t think the xbox would work right if it didn’t have, or at least thought it had, the drive it wanted.

sorry italian guy: i think this is more important. i’m sure c4e never meant to lead the hitachi users on, but other things have come up that need fixing first. hitachi users can always play xgd2 games or play xgd3 originals, or just wait, or just buy an xbox with a different drive. he can’t cater to everyone at once… remember he does this for free, i think he can choose what to do first.
