some people say that their 78/79 drive doesn’t require proper ap2.5 data to boot games. if you have one of these drives, please share with us. that would save some people the trouble of re-burning and tossing out their older discs. just posting 78FK (or whichever) doesn’t specify the firmware. there is 4b00, 4c30, 4d20, and 4e10 firmware for both the 78 and the 79 drive. you might have to connect your drive to jungleflasher to be able to determine the firmware revision. this would be preferred anyway, as sometimes the drive label is incorrect. thanks to anyone who decides to help out.

I have a 79 4d20 and I can confirm that It does not have support for ap checks. I have been booting mw2 and black ops since the day they patched them with no problems. All xgd3 games work fine for me, only had a problem earlier today where i got the 1 light but i updated to 2.0b and its fine now. It was weird because it worked fine for 5 days then suddenly it started to give me the error. I love my hitachi 79 4d20, was totally worth the wait for the cfw.

so just so i understand, you have a copy of mw2 from before they activated the ap2.5 challenges? in other words your copy has NO ap2.5 data recorded onto it? and you have been playing xgd3 games online to this day without using the title update trick?

Yes that is correct. Xval shows that secdata is still clean. I have been using this xbox for at least a year now with no problems whatsoever. Got it as a refurb from EB Games, at first I thought it would be a headache because I had only done liteons and benqs but Its the greatest drive I have ever seen.

I have a Hitachi 79FL-4B00.
I’m not quite sure if i can confirm if I have ap 2.5 checks. I recently got my hitachi xbox modded with LT 1.91. I ran some backups likes halo reach, cod mw 2, black ops, that were not patched with ABGX.

Prior to the silent dae.bin update, They ran perfectly fine both offline and on xbox live. I haven’t connected to xbox live after the silent update. ( don’t want to take the risk beacause I can’t confirm if my xbox has ap 2.5 checks)

also my xval still shows that my xbox ix clean

Is there any easy way of telling if the drive is performing the checks? If so I’ll open up my box tonight to find the exact model & firmware and post my results.

I have a Hitachi 79FL 4b00, i’m not sure if it does AP 2.5 checks, but i think don’t. I never go live, but I don’t have trouble with any game others than bad burnings. I think I played Call of Duty Black Ops and COD MW2 with old IExtreme 1.61 (from 2008 or so), just recently updated to LT+ 1.1, never updated to 1.91, go directly for LT 2.0 and inmediatly had trouble with 1 red light, then flashed to 2.0b, and now i’m playing fine ALL my old games and new XGD3 games with no reburnings. I have updated my dashboard to 13599 i think only 1 time on June 2011, via pendrive.

Very interesting info indeed. I have a 79FL (4b00) but have never tried an AP25 game without prior patching. I suppose I could make a new backup of my AC:Brotherhood WITHOUT using the 13599 bin file in XBC and NOT running it through abgx, then try booting it knowing the AP25 sector is either absent or outdated, that should likely confirm one way or another if the 79 (4b00) does AP25 or not.

The only thing I have ever used Live for was to download the optional media codec for DivX / XviD / MP4 movies so a flag or ban is a bit irrelevant to me unless the Xbox will eventually support MKV through another codec, in which case I’d be a little pissed about a ban lol

Should I be a guinea pig? =P
